Paddle through history on a guided Erie Canal Tour with passage through a lock by kayak! Relax and enjoy the serenity of a sunset paddle, watching the changing sky and viewing wildlife. Experience the adventure of paddling under a full moon! Perfect for work outings, private family outings, or friends day or night out. No prior paddling experience is necessary, your guide will get you comfortable on the water and paddling safely.
Or rent a kayak and choose your own adventure. All rentals and private excursions are by appointment.
NYS Safe Boating Certificate Course
Get your NYS certificate!
You can take the course anywhere, but here's why you should take it with us. This is a one stop shop for safe boating. Your instructor is a real captain with thousands of hours on the water. We demonstrate with real equipment and real boats whenever possible. We are right there to answer questions and clarify concepts based on real world experience. You will also receive a discount for on-the-water boat handling lessons once you complete the course. Those born on or after Jan. 1, 1978 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2024. All motor boat operators regardless of age will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2025. All personal watercraft operators must successfully complete an approved boating safety course. We have 2 classes in February - one full day on Feb 17 and one split 2 day on Feb 5 and 6. We also have one in March on the 11 and 12. All classes are at Fairport Library- sign up now!

Let's face it - docking a boat can be stressful. Operating a boat in crowded waterways can be challenging. A day on the water is more enjoyable when you have learned the techniques for close quarters maneuvering, docking, high speed handling, stopping, and rules of the road. As a National Safe Boating Council certified instructor, I can give you the tools to make your days on the water safer and happier. New boat owners - I can cut the learning curve for you. Experienced operators - I can work with you to refine your skills. I have taught well over 100 students to be safer, better, more confident boat handlers. Make the investment in yourself.

Right now, we are planning kayaking adventures. Prices start as low as $35 pp including a guide and all gear- kayak, paddle, pfd. We can set up a sunset paddle, full moon paddle, Erie Canal history tour or even arrange for passage through a lock by kayak. Custom itineraries can be designed for your group. No prior kayaking experience is necessary!

Safety and Confidence
I hold a USCG 100 ton license for sail or motor vessels. I am certified by the National Safe Boating Council as an on-the-water instructor and I am also certified by NYS to teach the safe boating certification course. Additionally, I am a NYS DEC licensed guide for hiking, camping and paddling and an American Canoe Club certified kayak instructor. My business was created out of a strong passion for boating and the outdoors and a commitment to making learning easy, fun and accessible. Since beginning to teach and guide, I’ve had the opportunity to help hundreds of students acquire foundational skills, develop new techniques and confidently move forward in their learning journey. I'd like to help you to do the same.
I provide a wide range of instruction to support students from all backgrounds and levels. I offer an array of excursions for folks who enjoy a guided experience - kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing or custom itineraries. Beginners are most welcome! Contact me with questions or to learn more!

LJ was so patient with our kids, she made sure to go over all safety rules and lesson while keeping kids focused despite it being early morning. My two teens who are normally fearful of new experiences did not hesitate to go in the kayak thanks to the humor, thoroughness andreassurance from LJ. Definitely recommend for teens as I feel it provided a confidence booster in my teens and had them actual see wildlife and experience it and not watching it on TV or their phones!
